God is our refuge ever near,
Our help in tribulation;
Therefore his people shall not fear
Amid a wrecked creation:
Though mountains from their base be hurled,
And ocean shake the solid world,
The Lord is our salvation.
The stream that flows from Zion’s hill,
Shall yet, serenely gliding,
With joy the holy city fill,
His presence there abiding:
The Lord, her glory and defence,
Will guard his chosen residence,
His timely aid providing.
