     marker 99|  |  |  |  | Why should I doubt my Father’s love,
 Or disbelieve his grace;
 His pity he will not remove,
 Although he hides his face.

 How oft has he, when full of pain,
 My drooping spirit cheered;
 And will not God appear again,
 Where once he has appeared?

 Has he not formed my soul anew,
 And told me I was his;
 And will he now his work forego,
 Or break his promises?

 Will he repent, or e’er deny
 The gifts he once bestowed;
 Or are those streams of mercy dry,
 Which then so freely flowed?

 No more shall groundless fear destroy
 The pace which God has given;
 Still numerous blessings I enjoy,
 And hope for more in heaven.
